Headmaster's Welcome,

 

On behalf of the board of trustees, faculty, and staff of DOCKERY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (DCA), it gives me great pleasure to personally welcome you to our inaugural opening of the 2025-2026 School year. I look forward to building and maintaining a strong and lasting partnership with each of you in the process of educating your children. Here at DOCKERY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, we recognize the fact that the success of our school depends in part on your input and support from now and well into the foreseeable future.

As the founder of this educational institution, I value the opportunity to work with you to build character, foster academic success and result in the achievement of young people in Nashville, Tennessee. Together we will turn the tides of educational shortcoming around to success for all families and children who enters our doors. When your son leaves our academy, they will be held to the high and honorable standards of a NOBLEMAN, SCHOLAR, and INDUSTRIALIST. DOCKERY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY (DCA) is a private, non-denominational Christian school with a special focus on at-risk male students in Nashville-Davidson County, Tennessee. DOCKERY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY provides a choice for parents of students who are faltering academically but want an opportunity to achieve educational excellence. Nashville parents have an expanded educational choice within Nashville-Davidson County. DCA offers struggling students in grades seven through twelve the opportunity to successfully reach state, national and international academic standards through a faith-based and rigorous curriculum. Students will be prepared for both vocational and academic post-secondary pursuits.

Prophet Robert Lee Dockery

(May 30, 1930 – February 17, 2017)

Prophet Dockery grew up in Hernando, Mississippi as the son of Share Croppers. He was a pastor for over fifty years, and a gang interdiction counselor in Chicago, Illinois. As a civic activist, he formed a not for profit organization in the Chicago area, focusing on ending poverty, improving living conditions and increasing economic independence for citizens. While his formal education stopped in the sixth grade, he was a lifelong – self-guided learner.

Mother Ethel Lee -Shelton Dockery, M.S.

(September 5, 1936 – September 10, 2017)

Mother Dockery grew up in Clarksdale, Mississippi as the daughter of Share Croppers. As a single parent with two children and an eighth-grade education, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois in 1957. Determined to improve her quality of life, she went on to complete G.E.D. requirements; earn an A.A., in Child Development, B.A., in Psychology and M.S., in Guidance and Counseling. During her professional career, Mother Dockery was a guidance counselor for battered women, a child advocate, educator, author and civic activist in her local community. She played an integral role in the production of the 2003 BFC Charter School Application.
